from the founder's desk...

What started as an undertaking to get better at baking (after MANY years of Whoops moments in the kitchen), developed into a stress-buster, evolved into a hobby and finally emerged as an idea on a simple day I was feeling blue is now called The Blue Jay Cafe.

The Blue Jay Cafe is more that just a bakery. It's the nostalgia of your travels, from when you felt freer, the comfort of home, and the fervour of wanting some moments to last just a little bit longer.

It is what you turn to when you're enveloped by the magic of Christmas upon sinking your teeth into a perfectly frosted Carrot Cake, or the way your eyes light up when you reminisce about the Butterscotch pudding that nan used to make from when you were younger. It's the charm of the streets of Italy where you first  understood the snugness of a boozy let oh-so-light Tiramisu. And the way you felt a little plush as you bit into the perfect little macaron in France. Or how your mind wafts off to the cobblestoned walkways of Belgium whenever you wake up to the aroma of freshly cooked Waffles.

Today, after years of learning, practice, successful bakes and some very important yet delectable faux pas, The Blue Jay Cafe is simply a reminder that a dash of sweetness can be found even in the glummest of times.
